Software Engineer – Distributed Data Systems

About the role

Databricks is looking for a Software Engineer to join the founding team of its Belgrade site. You will help build the next generation of our Data Intelligence Platform, focusing on the storage and query engines that power fast, secure, and easy‑to‑use data workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Clarify requirements and drive design decisions for ambiguous, large‑scale problems.
• Produce technical design documents and detailed project plans.
• Develop new features for the storage and query engines.
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices.
• Test, roll out, and monitor production releases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of production‑level experience in Java, Scala, or C++.
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures with real‑world application.
• Experience with distributed systems, databases, and big‑data technologies such as Apache Spark and Hadoop.
• Ability to work toward a multi‑year vision while delivering incremental value.
