Medical Science Expert – Cardiometabolic & Endocrinology (18 months)

About the role

Merck is seeking a Medical Science Expert specialized in Cardiometabolic and Endocrinology to support its Medical Affairs team for an 18‑month period. The role combines scientific exchange with strategic support for local therapeutic area (TA) initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the local Medical Affairs expert for one or more therapeutic areas, delivering both in‑field and office‑based activities.
• Support TA leadership in developing launch, brand, and medical strategy, translating objectives into stakeholder engagement plans.
• Gather and communicate scientific insights, expert opinions, and research concepts from external stakeholders.
• Conduct bi‑directional scientific exchange with healthcare professionals (HCPs) through face‑to‑face and virtual interactions.
• Address medical and scientific inquiries (on‑label and off‑label) and capture relevant insights.
• Lead core medical activities, including visits to key thought leaders, data collection, and project proposals based on medical insights.
• Participate in medical education initiatives and stay current with literature and therapeutic landscape.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Medical Affairs or scientific exchange within cardiometabolic and endocrinology.
• Strong understanding of local medical strategy and therapeutic area objectives.
• Ability to engage and build relationships with HCPs while respecting commercial boundaries.
• Excellent communication skills for both scientific discussion and internal reporting.
