Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel will be based in Belgrade and report to the Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. You will independently lead complex legal matters, commercial negotiations and strategic initiatives for the Intellectual Property business segment, providing business‑focused advice to global stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, draft, advise on and negotiate complex, high‑impact agreements with customers, vendors, partners, content providers, agents, distributors and resellers.
• Own the legal strategy for assigned matters, identify material risks and develop practical mitigation approaches.
• Lead the legal response to strategic customer RFPs and tenders, advising on deal structures and licensing terms.
• Provide independent, strategic advice on commercial, contractual, intellectual property, privacy, regulatory, dispute, corporate and compliance matters.
• Act as a trusted advisor to commercial, product, operational and functional leaders, influencing decisions with clear, risk‑balanced counsel.
• Lead cross‑functional projects and legal workstreams, coordinating stakeholders and driving timely completion.
• Identify, design and implement improvements to templates, playbooks, workflows, approval structures and legal technology.
• Guide and mentor less‑experienced legal professionals, offering substantive advice without formal people‑management responsibility.
• Select, brief and manage external counsel, ensuring quality, timing and cost‑effectiveness.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification corporate/commercial legal experience.
• Proven ability to lead complex commercial negotiations, preferably in information, data, software, SaaS, technology or IP businesses.
• Strong contractual negotiation and drafting skills.
• In‑house experience is a strong plus.
• International or multinational corporation experience preferred, including cross‑border transactions.
• Ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex issues persuasively.
• Sound independent judgment in ambiguous situations with a focus on business drivers.
• Experience leading cross‑functional projects involving multiple stakeholders.
• High ethical, professional and governance standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word.
• Experience with Salesforce.
• Familiarity with legal AI tools such as Copilot.
• Knowledge of contract management systems like Conga CLM.
• Highly proficient spoken and written English.
