Software Engineer – C#/.NET

About the role

Wiser Technology designs, builds and scales complex software systems for aerospace, defence, automotive, telecom and financial services. As a Regular Software Engineer you will work on C#/.NET applications, maintain legacy code and deliver new features for global clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain C# applications using both .NET Framework 4.x and modern .NET 8+.
• Write and optimise T‑SQL code, stored procedures, indexes and manage transactions in SQL Server.
• Consume and expose SOAP/WCF and RESTful APIs with ASP.NET Core Web API.
• Implement background processing via Windows Services, scheduled jobs or worker services, handling concurrency and idempotency.
• Apply solid object‑oriented design, dependency injection and async patterns.
• Produce unit‑ and integration‑tests using xUnit, NUnit or MSTest.

Required profile

• Fluent English, both spoken and written.
• Comfortable reading and modifying large, unfamiliar legacy codebases.
• Methodical with production data, credentials and security‑related concerns.
• Ability to follow specifications and raise questions when code diverges.
• Effective communicator within mixed Wiser and client teams.
• Eagerness to learn and share knowledge.

Required skills

• C# and .NET (Framework 4.x.NET 8+).
• SQL Server, T‑SQL, stored procedures, indexes, transactions.
• ADO.NET (SqlClient, DataSets, parameterised queries) and Entity Framework.
• SOAP/WCF and RESTful API development in ASP.NET Core.
• Background processing (Windows Services, scheduled jobs, workers).
• Object‑oriented design, dependency injection, async/await.
• Unit‑testing frameworks: xUnit, NUnit, MSTest.
• Git with pull‑request workflows.
• Experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) and disciplined review.
