Boiler Operator

About the role

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient and continuous operation of boilers, auxiliary equipment and utility systems. This role includes monitoring, maintenance, testing and record‑keeping to ensure reliable plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain boiler‑related equipment, reading gauges, meters and charts to monitor performance.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers, compressors, air dryers, condensate separators and feedwater pumps.
• Conduct water sampling, testing and boiler blowdown, and monitor the water‑treatment plant.
• Maintain safety devices, record operating data, and manage work orders through the CMMS system.

Required profile

• Level III vocational qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Steam Boiler Operator certification with Automatic Thermal Control (ATK).
• Passed professional fire‑protection examination and qualification to operate gas installations.
• Minimum three years of experience operating industrial boiler systems.

Required skills

• Operation and monitoring of boiler systems and auxiliary equipment.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical utility equipment.
• Use of CMMS for work‑order reporting.
• Water treatment sampling and testing procedures.
