Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing and procuring production materials, major components, and essential services to support manufacturing operations. The role uses MRP reports to manage procurement activities and works closely with engineering, scheduling, and quality teams to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review daily MRP reports, place and adjust purchase orders to meet the master production schedule.
• Obtain competitive quotations, evaluate suppliers on cost, quality and on‑time delivery, and justify price changes.
• Expedite critical materials, manage late deliveries, and support scheduling when materials are unavailable.
• Enter and maintain item and supplier data in the ERP system, including prices, lead times, and part numbers.
• Qualify new suppliers, negotiate contracts and credit terms, and conduct supplier visits and semi‑annual evaluations.
• Mediate between quality and suppliers to resolve discrepancies and handle returns, repairs, or rework.
• Assist other departments with special orders, billing disputes, and monthly credit‑card reconciliation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical education, or at least three years of related procurement experience.
• Strong communication skills in English and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity and decision‑making.

Required skills

• Understanding of MRP systems, technical drawings, specifications and bills of material.
• Proficiency with standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to procurement.
• Operational competence in MS‑Office applications, especially Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Ability to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI‑generated outputs.
