Executive Director / VP Medical Science & Strategy (Metabolic)

About the role

The Executive Director / Vice President will lead the Medical Science & Strategy team focused on Metabolic therapeutic areas. Based in the EMEA region with travel to China, the role drives strategic and measurable business outcomes for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s PPD clinical research business.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality input for RFPs, covering development strategy, regulatory considerations, drug class issues, protocol design, safety, and team education.
• Engage with client physicians and senior scientific leaders during bid defenses and identify new business opportunities.
• Lead proactive client engagement, peer‑to‑peer interactions, strategic alliance development, and participation in client governance and advisory boards.
• Deliver industry‑leading product development plans and design clinical trial protocols through PPD’s consulting practice.

Required profile

• Extensive track record in Metabolic therapeutic areas with recognition as a peer among pharmaceutical industry leaders.
• Proven ability to drive strategic initiatives and measurable business results.
• Experience supporting sales, proposals, and bid defenses with senior medical and scientific stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to train internal teams and influence client decision‑makers.
