Network System Engineer

About the role

Betby is seeking a highly skilled Network Systems Engineer to own and evolve its hybrid networking infrastructure. You will be responsible for the Linux‑based routing stack, cloud‑native virtual networks, and ensuring high availability, security, and automation across on‑premise and AWS environments.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy, maintain and optimise Linux routing stack (BIRD, OSPF/BGP, ECMP, IPsec) with fault‑tolerance and security.
• Manage Proxmox host networking, including LACP bonds, Linux bridges, VLAN tagging and related automation.
• Design and maintain secure connectivity between bare‑metal clusters and AWS VPCs across multiple data centres.
• Automate network configuration deployment using IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform) to ensure consistency.
• Implement micro‑segmentation via firewall rules and security groups, and monitor performance metrics.
• Provide primary technical contact for datacentre teams and internal network‑related inquiries.
• Document networking infrastructure, processes and asset registries, ensuring compliance with IT policies.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management or related technical support.
• Strong background with Linux operating systems, preferably Debian‑based.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS networking (VPC, subnets, route tables, security groups, site‑to‑site VPN).
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Linux networking stack (netlink, namespaces, LACP, VLAN, bonding).
• Routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, ECMP, IPsec, BIRD daemon.
• Firewall management: iptables / nftables.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code tools: Ansible, Terraform.
• Virtualisation platforms: Proxmox, VMware, KVM, VirtualBox.
• Cloud platforms: AWS (VPC, VPN, security groups).
• Container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes (optional).
• Scripting: shell command line, basic automation scripts.
