Art Director

About the role

Onyx Studio, a global game co‑development studio, is seeking an experienced Art Director to lead the visual development of an ambitious AAA title. You will define the artistic vision, mentor a multidisciplinary art team, and ensure that every visual element supports gameplay and narrative goals.

Key responsibilities

• Define, communicate, and maintain the overall artistic vision of the project.
• Collaborate with Creative Directors, Game Designers, and Producers to align visual direction with gameplay and narrative.
• Lead and mentor Environment, Prop, VFX, and Lighting artists.
• Establish visual standards, art pipelines, and best practices.
• Review, critique, and approve art deliverables for consistency and quality.
• Create and maintain art bibles, style guides, and visual benchmarks.
• Support hiring, team growth, and artist development.
• Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in game development, including leadership on AAA projects.
• At least one shipped AAA title in a Lead Artist, Associate Art Director, or Art Director role.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating artistic excellence and visual problem‑solving.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities.
• Experience collaborating across art, design, engineering, and production.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

• Procedural content creation technologies
• Experience with proprietary game engines (nice to have)
