Backend Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Developer to join a new team responsible for an established gaming platform. You will work with inherited code, improve documentation, and take part in architectural decisions while ensuring high performance and reliability of our services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable Java backend services, REST APIs and micro‑services for high‑traffic gaming operations.
• Write and optimise SQL queries for PostgreSQL and SQL Server, and implement proper error handling, logging and monitoring (e.g., Prometheus).
• Troubleshoot and debug services, support observability, and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps and system architect teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hands‑on Java backend development experience.
• Strong understanding of micro‑services architecture, REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and SQL optimisation.
• Comfortable working with inherited code and limited documentation, with an ownership mentality.
• Fluent English; Serbian a plus.
