Database Engineer

About the role

Synechron is seeking a Database Engineer to join its Serbia team, working on Business Intelligence and Reporting initiatives for investment banking projects. The role involves designing, optimizing, and maintaining data structures and integrations to support data‑driven decision making.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain data structures for reporting systems, ensuring integrity and performance.
• Develop and optimize data exchanges and integrations between various platforms.
• Design, develop, and improve stored procedures, functions, and scripts for data operations.
• Optimize database and query performance through indexing, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate on data modeling, database design, and data warehousing architecture.
• Build and enhance ETL processes to support efficient data movement.
• Conduct source‑to‑target data mapping exercises for accurate data integration.
• Work within a distributed international team following Scrum/Agile methodology.

Required profile

• Expert knowledge of SQL with extensive hands‑on experience in MS SQL Server or Redshift.
• Strong understanding of relational database management system concepts.
• Proven experience developing stored procedures, functions, and scripting for databases.
• Deep expertise in query performance optimization, including indexing and tuning.
• Solid background in data warehousing concepts and best practices.
• Experience in data modeling and database design principles.
• Skilled in developing ETL workflows for data movement between systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
