Design Engineer – Automotive Thermal Management

About the role

Johnson Electric is expanding its R&D team in Niš and is looking for a Design Engineer to drive the development of thermal management modules for New Energy Vehicles. You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept to series production, ensuring high quality, cost efficiency, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 2D and 3D designs using CAD tools.
• Support concept studies, feasibility analyses, and design optimisation.
• Prepare engineering drawings, CAD models and technical documentation.
• Conduct simulations, interpret results, and assist validation testing.
• Participate in DVP/PVP preparation, prototype building and root‑cause analysis.
• Execute DFMEA, manage engineering changes and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with manufacturing during industrialisation and launch.
• Engage with customers, suppliers and internal teams on technical matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of R&D experience developing mechatronic products.
• Strong analytical mindset with data‑driven problem‑solving skills.
• Fluent English communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools (2D/3D).
• Experience in engineering simulations and validation.
• Knowledge of DFMEA and DVP/PVP processes.
• Understanding of manufacturing technologies and design‑for‑manufacturing principles.
