Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Support Pupils Across Pathways

About the role

We are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team, supporting pupils across a range of pathways in both primary and secondary settings. Working closely with classroom teachers, you will help deliver engaging, inclusive lessons tailored to the needs of all learners, including those with SEMH and SEN.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver appropriately challenging learning activities for individuals, small groups or whole classes under teacher direction.
• Produce and adapt schemes of work, lesson plans and resources to meet individual student needs.
• Support the delivery of literacy, numeracy and basic skills programmes.
• Contribute to interventions and out‑of‑school learning activities that consolidate classroom learning.
• Use ICT effectively to support learning and develop students’ competence and safe use of technology.
• Monitor, assess, record and report students’ attainment and progress in collaboration with colleagues.
• Provide constructive, formative feedback and promote positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
• Develop and review provision plans and contribute to annual reviews.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and external professionals.

Required profile

• Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in English and mathematics.
• Relevant training in learning strategies, specialist skills or a curriculum area.
• Experience working with primary and secondary pupils, including those with SEMH and SEN.
• Adaptability, initiative and the ability to build positive relationships.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using ICT for teaching and learning.
