Japanese Language Consultant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Japanese Language Consultant to lead the transformation of our Japanese localization services. The role combines AI‑enabled workflows, linguistic quality management and client advisory within IQVIA Language Solutions, a global provider for life‑science organizations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement AI‑supported localization and linguist operating models.
• Optimize translation memories, terminology, prompts and other language assets.
• Develop best‑practice guidelines for collaboration between linguists and AI tools.
• Establish linguistic quality standards, KPIs and reporting frameworks.
• Use edit‑distance analysis and data‑driven insights to improve performance.
• Partner with Production, Delivery, Quality and Technology teams.
• Engage directly with Japanese clients to communicate process improvements.
• Evaluate emerging AI and localization technologies and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 8‑12 years of experience in translation, localization, language services or consulting.
• Proven experience working with Japanese clients and stakeholders.
• Track record of leading localization transformation or technology adoption projects.
• Experience in clinical translation or life‑science environments is a plus.
• Native or near‑native Japanese proficiency and business‑level English.

Required skills

• Expertise in Japanese linguistic quality standards and localization best practices.
• Knowledge of AI‑powered translation workflows and localization technologies.
• Proficiency with CAT tools and Translation Management Systems (TMS).
• Strong analytical and stakeholder‑management abilities.
