About the role

The Direct Procurement Manager will lead strategic and operational purchasing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), bulk materials and finished dosage forms (FDF) while supporting key transfer projects in the pharma sector. The role ensures a reliable, cost‑competitive supply chain and close collaboration with local, cluster and global teams.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, lead and control procurement activities for assigned direct‑material categories.
• Develop and implement category strategies, planning and monitoring related actions.
• Maintain a stable, cost‑effective supply chain at local and cluster levels.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, conduct supplier selection and tender processes.
• Identify, analyse and mitigate procurement risks, escalating issues when needed.
• Collaborate with production, supply‑chain, quality, R&D, regulatory, safety and Global Procurement teams.
• Coordinate procurement for a specific production site, aligning goals with site objectives.
• Track performance, generate reports and use SAP and other data sources for proactive decisions.
• Lead the procurement team, develop staff and ensure compliance with procedures and policies.

Required profile

• University degree in economics or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain or the pharmaceutical industry.
• Excellent English; basic knowledge of another language is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, negotiations, tenders and contracts.
• Proficiency with SAP and MS Office.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Analytical, proactive, results‑oriented and data‑driven.
• High ethical standards, confidentiality and responsibility.
• Ability to coach team members and share knowledge.
