PHP (Native) Developer

About the role

Merkle, a dentsu company, is looking for a PHP (native) developer based in Belgrade. The role covers the whole software development cycle, from requirements analysis and design through development, unit testing and documentation, with ownership of complex application features and key technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the full software development cycle: requirements analysis, design and development, unit testing and documentation.
• Ensure long-term code reusability and stability, and proactively identify and solve security and usability issues.
• Work independently with a broad overview of the project, owning the delivery of complex features and resolving key technical issues.
• Follow the estimation process and give accurate personal estimates.
• Develop software features on time and to quality standards, deliver training, share knowledge and mentor new software engineers.
• Integrate new technologies and follow the company's release processes.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience with PHP.
• Academic background in IT or equivalent.
• Good understanding of OOP, design patterns and anti-patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Experience with relational databases (DBMS).
• Knowledge of algorithms and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Strong PHP knowledge from version 7.3 to 8.4.
• Project tools such as Atlassian or Git/SVN.
• Testing layers: unit, integration and functional testing.
• Nice to have: e-commerce platforms (Magento, Prestashop, CS-Cart, xCart) or PHP CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla), JavaScript (ES6), microservices architecture and SCRUM.
