Senior Integration & Controls Engineer (SME)

About the role

This hybrid position joins West’s Global Equipment Engineering team to lead integration and control initiatives for production equipment worldwide. You will act as a subject‑matter expert, ensuring equipment connectivity, data acquisition, and compliance with safety and GMP standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering and vendor collaborations to develop specifications for new or upgraded equipment, focusing on controls, network connectivity, and data acquisition.
• Drive standardisation and harmonisation of production equipment and documentation across the global network.
• Coordinate GMP‑related validations, process‑engineering evaluations, and systematic problem‑solving for manufacturing sites.
• Manage equipment projects from URS issuance through PQ, including drawing and code reviews, network diagram creation, and SCADA integration.
• Support global sites in connecting equipment to the network/cloud, interfacing with MES/SAP, and providing elevated troubleshooting for legacy and new systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5‑8 years of experience in electrical controls, network connectivity, and equipment integration in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven project‑management experience with strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Siemens PLC programming (TIA Portal / Step 7) and Rockwell Automation (ControlLogix / Studio 5000) certifications.
• Industrial networking protocols: PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA.
• PLC programming languages: LD, FBD, IL, SCL, ST.
• SCADA development, testing and deployment.
• MES/SAP interface development.
• Visio diagramming, AutoCAD, PowerBI, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Understanding of cGMP, DIN ISO 15378, ISO 9001, ISO 50001 and IEC safety guidelines.
• Experience with data acquisition, cloud connectivity, and remote equipment support.
