Senior Power Systems Engineer (Grid Integration Studies)

About the role

GE Vernova is hiring a Senior Power Systems Engineer for its European GIS team within the Consulting Service organization, working cross-functionally with different GE Vernova businesses. The role leads and executes electrical power system studies that support grid reliability and performance in a grid with an increasing share of power electronics equipment, working with external clients and internal teams on grid integration challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Lead power system studies end-to-end, covering steady-state performance, dynamic stability, harmonics, short circuits, protection and EMT analysis, and communicate results to clients and stakeholders.
• Perform independent technical analysis, including grid stability modelling and simulation, and develop solutions involving equipment and controls that meet reliability requirements, grid codes and standards.
• Support large load grid integration by assessing integration challenges and proposing technical solutions, including control interaction and resonance mitigation.
• Deliver technical consulting to clients and build a pipeline of consulting projects with external and internal customers.
• Participate in industry professional bodies such as IEEE, IEC or CIGRE and help develop technical and regulatory codes and standards.

Required profile

• Master's or PhD in Electrical or Electric Power Engineering.
• Significant experience in electric power engineering, grid stability, modelling and simulation, power equipment application and project performance evaluation.
• Ability to perform engineering analysis independently and consult credibly with clients.
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to manage a pipeline of consulting projects.
• Project management capability across complex, multi-stakeholder engagements.
• Willingness to travel up to about 30% of working time; relocation assistance is not provided.

Required skills

• Preferred: RMS and EMT simulation tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, GEV PSLF, EMTP, PSCAD or Python.
• Preferred: hands-on experience in FACTS control design, analysis and simulation-based testing, and in grid control coordination and resonance analysis.
• Preferred: active standing in professional societies such as EIT or PE licensure.
