Senior Software Engineer - Audio Infotainment Platform

About the role

The Serbia Infotainment Platform team at Rivian Volkswagen Technologies is expanding its multimedia group with a Senior Audio Software Engineer. You will develop, design and integrate low-level audio software focused on A2B audio bus protocols, vehicle diagnostics (DTCs) and advanced DSP development and signal processing. Embedded software is central to the role, with integration across Android and Linux operating systems to deliver an end-to-end automotive audio experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop embedded audio drivers, low-level firmware components and real-time audio pipeline modules.
• Lead and contribute to complex system-level debugging across hardware, software and network layers.
• Design, configure and validate A2B audio bus protocols and inter-ECU communication architectures.
• Lead DSP software design, audio signal processing development and signal path debugging, addressing latency and hardware/software boundaries.
• Implement and maintain audio DTCs, diagnostic frameworks and fault recovery handling across ECU networks.
• Optimize audio software for performance, latency, power efficiency and sound quality.
• Integrate low-level DSP and A2B components with higher-level Android and Linux audio subsystems.
• Work with hardware engineers, acoustics specialists, UX/UI designers and other software teams.
• Maintain technical documentation and promote best practices in software development and quality assurance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering or a related technical field.
• Proven experience with A2B bus protocols and automotive diagnostic standards (DTCs).
• Demonstrated experience in audio DSP design, signal flow architecture, algorithm integration and audio pipeline development.
• Familiarity with integrating low-level audio layers into Android and Linux environments.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication, and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.

Required skills

• Strong C/C++ for low-level embedded real-time systems, firmware and driver development.
• Preferred: experience with safety-critical software (e.g. ISO 26262), inter-ECU protocols (CAN, Ethernet, SOME/IP, gPTP), consumer or automotive audio, Linux/Android audio subsystems, audio codecs and post-processing algorithms, Qualcomm Snapdragon automotive platforms, and vehicle bring-up and validation.
