Technical Lead – IntelliJ Platform

About the role

JetBrains is looking for a Technical Lead to drive the IntelliJ Platform team, shaping the plugin ecosystem and modernising core subsystems to boost developer productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Define minimal, clear APIs for internal and external plugin development, draft documentation, and set the team’s definition of done.
• Re‑architect core subsystems to make settings flexible and portable across machines, supporting remote and provisioned environments.
• Organise and implement the deprecation cycle for IntelliJ Platform APIs.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in platform architecture and systems design.
• Strong understanding of JVM concurrency.
• Knowledge of Kotlin coroutines.
• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
• Critical thinking and architectural foresight.
• Ability to organise and perform large‑scale refactoring in monorepos.

Required skills

• Experience building developer tools.
• Familiarity with various UI frameworks.
• Knowledge of database internals.
• Experience working with network applications.
