Member of Technical Staff – Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

The Cloud Infrastructure team at Perplexity builds and operates the foundational cloud primitives that power both consumer and enterprise products. As a Member of Technical Staff you will own the roadmap and technical strategy for agent‑driven cloud infrastructure management, ensuring secure, reliable, and high‑performance environments for AI workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Design and operate Perplexity’s cloud networking fabric, including VPC architectures, private connectivity, and peering with hyperscalers and neocloud providers.
• Architect and scale compute platforms (Kubernetes/EKS, autoscaling groups, mixed CPU/GPU fleets) across multiple regions.
• Build and maintain secure, isolated deployment topologies for multi‑tenant, single‑tenant, and BYOC environments.
• Implement multi‑region strategies for availability, failover, data locality, traffic routing, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
• Partner with security to deliver enterprise controls such as BYOK/KMS integrations, network isolation, and auditability.
• Develop automation, tooling, and runbooks for day‑2 operations, provisioning, upgrades, and incident response.

Required profile

• 7+ years of industry experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure.
• Proven track record leading design of complex systems or large‑scale migrations.
• Strong debugging and incident‑management skills across distributed networking and compute platforms.
• Experience delivering secure, isolated environments for regulated enterprise customers.

Required skills

• AWS (VPC design, routing, security groups, load balancing, private connectivity)
• Kubernetes/EKS and container orchestration (multi‑cluster, multi‑region, multi‑account)
• Cloud networking and peering (VPC peering, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, service endpoints)
• BYOK/KMS integrations and compliance controls
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
• Software engineering in Python, Go, or Rust for automation and tooling
