Safety Assistant (Pre-Employment Screening)

About the role

The Safety Assistant will support the recruitment process by performing pre‑employment screenings for prospective drivers. This position ensures that all candidates meet regulatory and company standards before they are hired.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough pre‑employment screenings for new applicants.
• Generate and review Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Pre‑Employment Screening Program (PSP) reports based on drivers' licenses.
• Perform FMCSA Clearinghouse record checks.
• Communicate with approved applicants via phone and email.
• Schedule DOT pre‑employment drug tests through Med Stop.
• Conduct online driver onboarding and hiring.
• Gather required paperwork to create complete hiring files.
• Collaborate closely with the Recruitment Team to maintain a smooth hiring workflow.
• Obtain necessary trip permits.

Required profile

• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
• Detail‑oriented and able to process and analyze records for many candidates efficiently and accurately.
• Previous experience in the trucking industry is a plus, but training will be provided.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
