Senior Backend Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our engineering team and work on scalable, high‑performance production systems. The role focuses on backend development, system architecture, performance optimisation, and distributed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using PHP and Laravel.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Design and optimise MySQL databases, queries, indexes and data models.
• Develop asynchronous and event‑driven systems using Apache Kafka.
• Work with AWS infrastructure including EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch and Lambda.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems using Graylog and other observability tools.
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability and reliability issues.
• Participate in system architecture and technical design decisions, conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with PHP, Laravel and MySQL.
• Practical experience with Kafka or similar event streaming systems.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, system architecture, scalability and performance optimisation.
• Proactive, collaborative and able to mentor other engineers.
