Senior GAAP & Tax Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior GAAP & Tax Accountant to lead the preparation of financial statements, manage tax reporting, and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The role combines deep accounting expertise with a proactive approach to process optimisation and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with Swiss Code of Obligations, German GAAP, and US GAAP.
• Support statutory, internal, and tax audits.
• Prepare statistical tax returns for entities in Germany, Switzerland, the UK, and the US.
• Manage direct and indirect tax preparation and filing.
• Perform monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations, plausibility checks, and revenue recognition.
• Oversee fixed‑asset accounting, pre‑payments, accruals, and general‑ledger activities.
• Execute FX revaluations and inter‑company cost‑centre recharges, including ICO reconciliations.
• Ensure SOX compliance by maintaining documentation and evidence for key controls.
• Identify and implement process improvements and undertake additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of accounting theory and GAAP principles.
• 5+ years of accounting/finance experience; CPA is a plus.
• Excellent English; German language skills are an advantage.
• Detail‑oriented, organized and able to meet strict deadlines.
• Independent and collaborative work style with strong communication abilities.

Required skills

• High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Willingness and ability to leverage AI tools for productivity and decision‑making.
