Senior WordPress Developer – High‑Traffic Multilingual Sites

About the role

SiGMA World is seeking a senior WordPress developer who treats the platform as a robust engineering foundation. You will design, build and scale high‑traffic, multilingual sites that power our international events and media portfolio, focusing on architecture, performance and security while delivering new features.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom themes, plugins and Gutenberg blocks for a portfolio of high‑traffic, multilingual WordPress sites.
• Create and manage shared libraries, Composer packages and tooling to accelerate delivery across teams.
• Refactor legacy code, optimise database queries, implement caching and achieve Core Web Vitals targets.
• Build and consume REST APIs and integrate with internal and third‑party systems.
• Participate in code reviews, improve CI/CD pipelines and enforce engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product, marketing, SEO and content teams to deliver new features and site enhancements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience as a WordPress developer using Object‑Oriented PHP (8.x) and modern standards (namespaces, PSR‑4, Composer).
• Deep knowledge of WordPress core APIs, custom post types, taxonomies, ACF (Pro) and WP_Query.
• Proven experience building Gutenberg blocks with React, JSX and @wordpress/scripts.
• Strong JavaScript (ES6+), build tooling (webpack/Vite) and modern CSS (Sass, PostCSS; Tailwind a plus).
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and custom WP REST endpoints.
• Solid understanding of WordPress security, performance optimisation and caching strategies.
• Comfortable with Git workflows, pull requests and CI/CD pipelines.
