Staff Backend Developer

About the role

PAR Technology Corporation seeks a highly experienced Staff Backend Developer to design, develop, and evolve complex backend systems using PHP and/or Go, MySQL and related technologies. The role demands deep technical expertise, strong engineering judgment, and ownership from design through production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain complex backend services and APIs supporting integrated ordering, payment, and workflow management solutions.
• Drive technical design and architecture decisions, identify risks, and ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of production systems.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of features, including implementation, testing, deployment, production validation, and post‑release support.
• Mentor other engineers, conduct high‑quality code reviews, and help adopt AI‑assisted development practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive experience delivering complex production backend systems with PHP and/or Go.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Proven ability to work independently, solve complex technical problems, and make sound engineering decisions.
