Chief Accountant

About the role

LC Waikiki Retail Company is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead its accounting function across a global retail network. Reporting to senior finance leadership, you will ensure accurate IFRS‑compliant financial reporting, manage a team of eight professionals, and drive continuous improvement of accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and timely filing of statutory financial statements in full compliance with IFRS.
• Manage period‑end and year‑end close cycles, ensuring efficiency and adherence to deadlines.
• Supervise core accounting functions: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and revenue recognition for sales, returns, discounts, and gift cards.
• Handle accounting for property, plant, and equipment, including depreciation, impairment, and capital expenditures.
• Ensure accurate accounting and disclosure for leases under IFRS 16.
• Coordinate intercompany transactions and reconciliations for consolidated entities.
• Review, optimise, and automate accounting processes, leveraging ERP capabilities.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience managing an accounting team (approximately 8 members).
• Deep knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and recent IFRS updates.
• Extensive experience in retail‑specific accounting, including revenue and lease accounting.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to provide strategic financial insights.
