General Ledger Accountant – Hybrid (Belgrade)

About the role

We are building a new Shared Service Center in Belgrade and are looking for a General Ledger Accountant to join the finance team. The role will operate in a hybrid model, combining office presence with remote work, and will support global finance processes using SAP.

Key responsibilities

• Record and verify financial transactions in SAP, including journal entries, bank statements, travel expenses, credit‑card transactions, fixed assets and intercompany reconciliations.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities such as accruals, provisions, exchange‑rate adjustments and goods‑in‑transit.
• Reconcile GL accounts, ensure data integrity and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
• Analyse financial data to identify trends, issues and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with other finance teams and stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely reporting.
• Contribute to the standardisation and continuous improvement of accounting processes within the SSC.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in General Ledger accounting or a similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Experience in a Shared Service Center or Global Business Services environment is a plus.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and GL processes.
• Proficiency with SAP (or a comparable ERP system).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
