Principal Software Engineer – Go & Rust (Engine)

About the role

Workato is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and evolution of its integration platform. In this hands‑on role you will shape the architecture of a cloud‑native system that powers real‑time orchestration for enterprise customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver microservices and platform features from concept to production‑ready specifications.
• Create technical designs for complex components and build proof‑of‑concepts in Golang.
• Architect secure, fault‑tolerant systems with automated failover, circuit breakers and end‑to‑end encryption.
• Analyze existing architecture, plan migration of legacy components and define deprecation timelines.
• Review and approve architectural designs from engineering teams, providing detailed feedback.
• Lead architecture review sessions and drive technical decision‑making across product, security, SRE and infrastructure teams.
• Conduct threat‑modeling exercises and establish platform‑wide standards.
• Mentor engineers on best practices and architectural principles.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a system architect or senior engineer building large‑scale, secure platforms.
• Hands‑on expertise in designing and implementing microservices.
• Strong understanding of cloud‑native patterns, reliability engineering and security best practices.
• Ability to influence cross‑functional teams and drive consensus on technical direction.
