Project Analyst (80% part-time)

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme is seeking a Project Analyst on an 80% part‑time basis to support the "Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment in Medium‑Sized Municipalities in Serbia VI" programme. The role will contribute to improving water quality, ensuring environmentally sound wastewater management, and supporting Serbia’s alignment with the EU Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Programme Implementation Unit (PIU) in coordinating and monitoring programme activities across six municipalities.
• Support the preparation, implementation and follow‑up of investment measures, including rehabilitation and construction of wastewater treatment facilities.
• Collect, analyse and report data on project progress, financial expenditures and compliance with EU standards.
• Facilitate communication between public utility companies, municipal authorities and UNDP stakeholders.
• Contribute to institutional strengthening activities aimed at enhancing the operational capacity of local utility companies.

Required profile

• University degree in engineering, environmental science, water resources, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in water supply, wastewater treatment or infrastructure projects, preferably in a public‑sector or international development context.
• Familiarity with EU environmental directives and standards applicable to wastewater management.
• Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in English; knowledge of Serbian is an advantage.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and adapt to a multicultural environment.
