Software Engineer – Embedded Linux & Driver Development

About the role

Quectel Wireless Solutions is expanding its R&D centre in Belgrade and seeks a motivated Software Engineer to work on Linux‑based embedded systems. You will be responsible for porting Linux, configuring kernels, and developing peripheral drivers while collaborating closely with hardware and test teams.

Key responsibilities

• Port Linux to new hardware platforms, configure kernels and tune system stability.
• Develop, debug and maintain peripheral drivers (UART, SPI, I2C, MIPI, Flash, Ethernet).
• Design and implement embedded application software from requirement analysis to release.
• Work with hardware, test, FAE and project teams to identify technical risks and deliver product demonstrations.
• Maintain software versioning, produce technical documentation and resolve customer issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronic Information, Communication Engineering or related fields.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot system crashes, reboots, network anomalies and stability problems.
• Excellent English communication skills for technical and business interactions.

Required skills

• C/C++ programming.
• Linux application development, multi‑thread programming, IPC and shell scripting.
• In‑depth knowledge of Linux kernel mechanisms, device tree and driver development.
• Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, MIPI, Flash and Ethernet drivers.
• Debugging and system stability tuning.
