Railway Metro Systems Assurance & Systems Engineer – Belgrade

About the role

We are seeking a Railway Metro Systems Assurance & Systems Engineer to join Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting Serbia on the Belgrade Metro Line 1 project. The role will be part of the Owner’s/PMC team and will ensure the technical integrity, compliance and readiness of the metro system throughout its lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Owner’s/PMC technical expert for systems assurance and systems engineering across the metro and its subsystems.
• Develop, implement and monitor the project Systems Assurance Plan, Systems Engineering Strategy and compliance frameworks in line with EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129 and CENELEC standards.
• Coordinate with contractors to produce and deliver their Systems Assurance and Systems Engineering plans, and to manage technical acceptance of rolling stock by Serbian Rail Authorities.
• Lead the review and acceptance of contractor deliverables, including system architectures, safety cases, RAMS documentation, verification, validation and certification reports.
• Ensure traceability between employer requirements, system specifications and design deliverables throughout the project.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
• Proven experience in railway systems assurance and systems engineering.
• Familiarity with international railway standards (EN 50126/28/29, CENELEC) and Serbian rail regulations.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
• Experience in managing reviews, risk‑based decision making and technical status reporting.
