Category Director

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Category Director to lead the strategic development of product categories, manage the portfolio and deliver business results for a well‑established distribution company in Serbia.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category development strategies aligned with the company’s overall business plan.
• Own revenue, profitability, market share and portfolio growth for assigned categories.
• Conduct market, consumer and competitor analysis to uncover new business opportunities.
• Identify and negotiate with new principals, manage onboarding and integration of new partners.
• Maintain long‑term relationships with principals and suppliers, leading regular Business Reviews.
• Oversee product lifecycle, define assortment strategy, propose new products and phase out unprofitable items.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain on purchasing strategy, demand planning and commercial terms.
• Design pricing, margin and promotional policies for each category.
• Lead marketing initiatives, coordinate campaigns, product launches and promotional activities.
• Analyze category profitability and performance, recommending actions to improve competitiveness.
• Work closely with the Sales Director on product introductions, pricing and promotional decisions.

Required profile

• University degree, preferably in a socially oriented field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in category management, portfolio development, commercial or related areas.
• Proven track record in creating and executing category strategies.
• Strong experience in traffic, profitability, market‑share management and portfolio growth.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to build partner relationships.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite.
• Valid B‑category driver’s license.
• Agile, energetic, analytical, creative and precise.
