Kubernetes Operations SRE Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Kubernetes Operations SRE Engineer to join an international product company. The position is based in our office in Belgrade, Serbia, or Limassol, Cyprus, and focuses on maintaining and improving our production K8s clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Upgrade Kubernetes clusters and add‑ons.
• Manage the OS lifecycle on Ubuntu nodes, including patching and security updates.
• Optimize kernel parameters for Kubernetes workloads.
• Maintain node images, versioning, and automated provisioning.
• Develop health‑check and compliance monitoring for clusters.
• Implement policy enforcement with Kyverno or OPA Gatekeeper.
• Automate configuration audits and routine operations using Ansible/AWX.
• Create dashboards to monitor cluster state.
• Introduce GitOps workflows with ArgoCD or GitLab Agent.
• Write scripts and utilities in Python, Go, or Bash.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of production Kubernetes experience.
• Hands‑on experience upgrading Kubernetes clusters.
• Deep knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu), systemd, networking, and kernel tuning.
• Proficiency with Ansible/AWX for automation.
• Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab CI.
• Solid grasp of Kubernetes architecture (kubelet, container runtime, CNI, CSI).
• Programming skills in Python or Bash.
• Network fundamentals: TCP/IP, iptables/nftables, DNS.
