Procurement Category Specialist

About the role

As a Procurement Category Specialist at METRO, you will shape the product assortment that appears on our shelves, turning data into strategic decisions and negotiations into lasting partnerships. You will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure the right products reach our customers in the HoReCa and trade sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage product categories, from item selection to supplier negotiations and catalog finalisation.
• Collaborate with Distribution Centers, Sales, Marketing, Logistics and other departments to ensure smooth category execution.
• Track and update special offers for HoReCa, Traders and SCO customer segments together with the Category Manager.
• Work with the Layout team to implement product placement strategies in stores.
• Maintain up‑to‑date contracts and documentation with suppliers, and accurately update purchasing and selling prices in the system.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong negotiation skills with a win‑win mindset.
• Excellent problem‑analysis ability, capable of connecting data points and identifying trends.
• Empathetic communicator who can adapt tone to different stakeholders.
• Team player eager to share knowledge and achieve collective goals.
• Growth mindset, open to feedback and resilient under pressure.
• Organised in handling systems and documentation.
• Fluent in Serbian and English, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong command of MS Office applications.
