Senior Software Developer (JCP Core Foundation Licensing and Quotation)

About the role

JetBrains is looking for a Senior Software Developer to own and evolve the backend services that determine customer entitlements, usage metering, and billing. You will work on critical commercial flows, ensuring correctness and reliability across distributed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services that calculate customer entitlements and usage costs.
• Own end‑to‑end data flows from licensing and purchase ingestion to quota enforcement and consumption recording.
• Evolve the domain model to support new seat‑based and usage‑based commercial structures.
• Design integrations with external systems, handling idempotency, ordering, reconciliation, and eventual consistency.
• Plan and execute live data migrations using feature flags, dual writes, backfills, and verification steps.
• Implement observability by defining invariants, metrics, and alerts to detect silent divergence.
• Design internal APIs with versioning, backward compatibility, and a focus on developer experience.
• Improve system performance and reliability under continuous production load while decommissioning legacy components.
• Write integration tests against real dependencies and maintain a reliable test infrastructure.
• Investigate production incidents, identify root causes, and deliver lasting fixes.
