Senior Software Development Engineer - Applied AI

About the role

AMD’s Software AI Enablement team is looking for a senior engineer to design, build and operate scalable software systems that power AI‑driven engineering workflows across the company. You will create products and platform services that thousands of AMD engineers rely on, integrating with both internal and third‑party AI services. The role requires moving quickly across ambiguous problems and emerging technologies to deliver company‑wide impact.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate production‑grade software and platform services from concept through deployment and support.
• Build AI‑powered tools that engineers adopt, ensuring high quality, reliability and usability.
• Integrate with enterprise and third‑party APIs, including under‑documented or rate‑limited AI services.
• Develop cloud‑native, containerised systems with CI/CD pipelines and robust observability.
• Troubleshoot complex, cross‑layer issues, ship fixes and communicate root causes to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experienced software engineer who quickly becomes productive in unfamiliar technical environments.
• Strong fundamentals in data modelling, concurrency, API design, failure modes and distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI critically in engineering work, describing where it helped or misled.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages and ability to learn new stacks.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native technologies, containers, orchestration, CI/CD and production observability.
• Practical experience building with LLMs, AI agents or generative AI beyond casual use.
• Experience building data‑intensive pipelines, warehouses and reconciliation systems.
• Ability to integrate with enterprise or third‑party platforms and APIs.
