Senior Software Engineer, Integrations

About the role

Element451 is looking for a senior software engineer to own end‑to‑end integrations that move student data across its AI‑powered SaaS platform. The role is fully remote in Serbia and combines data‑pipeline development, third‑party API work and AI‑assisted coding.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain idempotent data pipelines and integration services with built‑in observability.
• Ensure data integrity by detecting and handling discrepancies before they affect clients.
• Investigate and resolve root causes of sync failures, incidents and schema drift.
• Proactively surface production risks such as rate limits, credential expiry and upstream API changes.
• Generalize fixes into shared libraries and collaborate with principal engineers on large‑scale decisions.
• Leverage AI code assistants, test generation and debugging tools while maintaining the same quality standards as hand‑written code.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including senior‑level work on data integrations or backend services for a multi‑tenant SaaS product.
• Strong production‑grade Python skills and solid experience with MongoDB data modeling and query performance.
• Deep understanding of distributed, async, queue‑driven architectures and concepts such as retries, idempotency and eventual consistency.
• Hands‑on experience integrating third‑party APIs (e.g., SIS, Stripe, PayPal, Google, Outlook) and managing authentication, pagination and rate limits.
• Experience operating in AWS environments (secrets management, SQS, workflow orchestration) and participating in on‑call reliability rotations.
• Proficiency with automated testing across layers and a pragmatic approach to AI tooling (OpenAI, Claude, Codex).
