Backend Software Engineer - Game Experience Team

About the role

Join the Game Experience team to design and build cloud‑native backend services that power draw‑based gaming experiences. You will work closely with product, architecture and fellow engineers to deliver reliable, secure and observable systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop services covering the full lifecycle of draw‑based games, from configuration to integration with lottery and transactional systems.
• Design, build and maintain scalable backend or full‑stack systems that are secure, observable and resilient.
• Own code quality by writing clean, well‑tested code, adopting CI/CD, logging and telemetry practices.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and design reviews for the microservice platform.
• Collaborate through code reviews, pairing and shared learning sessions with Product and Design.
• Improve pipelines, tooling and team processes to increase development flow reliability.
• Participate in on‑call/incident rotations, using SLOs and blameless retrospectives to drive reliability.

Required skills

• Java (5+ years professional experience).
• Familiarity with JavaScript, C#, Go, Python (optional).
• Experience building REST APIs.
• Working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Container‑based deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of cloud‑native applications and distributed systems.
