Desktop Support Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a reliable, customer‑focused Desktop Support Engineer (Level 1) to provide on‑demand, task‑based onsite technical support. You will respond to local dispatch requests, troubleshoot hardware, software and basic network issues, and ensure minimal downtime for end‑users.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic hardware diagnostics, component replacements (RAM, storage, peripherals) and cable management for workstations, laptops and printers.
• Assist with Windows 10/11 OS setups, software installations, updates, patch deployment and password resets.
• Troubleshoot physical network connectivity, verify patch cables, run ping tests and confirm Wi‑Fi access.
• Accept, attend and complete assigned task‑based site visits, documenting all steps and resolutions in ticketing systems.
• Support asset and cable management, including unboxing, cabling and basic asset tagging under senior engineer guidance.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in IT support, helpdesk or field desktop support.
• Preferred certification: CompTIA A+ or equivalent.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, clear verbal communication and punctual, reliable work ethic.
• Ability to work independently on dispatched client locations and follow detailed documentation.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of PC hardware components.
• Proficiency with Windows 10/11 operating systems.
• Familiarity with remote support tools and Microsoft 365.
• Experience using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira or Zendesk.
• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and local network setups.
