EHS Lead Specialist - Wind Field Services

About the role

GE Vernova is looking for an EHS Lead Specialist for its onshore wind business covering Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Israel. Reporting to the EU East/North Portfolio EHS Services Leader, the role is a strategic partnership with the local Service Manager and Site Leads, helping field technicians, site teams and contractors adopt a proactive safety mindset. It is a hands-on position, with up to 50% of the time spent on site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the EHS system so that operations comply with GEV, local regulations and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and lead ISO (re)certification activities
• Define, track and analyse EHS KPIs and drive EHS maturity improvements across the service team
• Review safety plans and site procedures, coordinate EHS programmes and follow up legislation and standards
• Carry out documented periodic EHS inspections and audits, advise management on unsafe acts and conditions, and take action to stop them
• Facilitate EHS meetings, run the annual EHS training plan and conduct trainings and awareness sessions
• Manage incidents and accidents, including investigations, and liaise with contractors, insurers, local authorities and clients
• Ensure recordkeeping, maintain the emergency plan and organise emergency drills at least quarterly

Required profile

• 5 years of EHS experience in field operations in an international environment, ideally in wind
• Internationally recognised EHS qualification such as NEBOSH
• Permanent Serbian work permit required
• Fluent English and the local language (written and spoken)
• Physical fitness to climb a wind turbine; car driver's licence
• Advantages: technical background in electricity, mechanical or WTG installations, GWO/WINDA qualifications, local EHS licenses, experience with local EHS consultants

Required skills

• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification frameworks
• EHS risk assessment, guidelines and processes, audits, regulatory compliance, incident management and root cause analysis
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-based tools
• Influence, communication, change management and team engagement
