Head of Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the industrial engineering function of an international Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider. The role is responsible for overseeing project and tooling teams, planning resources, and ensuring optimal production capacity utilization across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead industrial engineering, project, and tool‑shop teams.
• Plan and allocate resources and production capacities across relevant sectors.
• Ensure optimal availability and utilization of production capacities.
• Drive process and workflow optimisation using Lean, Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and OEE methodologies.
• Improve product quality through robust technical solutions and approve tools and manufacturing processes.
• Provide technical support for serial production and new‑product introduction (NPI) projects.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers and cross‑functional internal teams.
• Monitor and manage project timelines, costs and quality performance.
• Conduct technical risk analysis together with quality and production departments.
• Define and maintain technical standards, specifications and norms.
• Perform feasibility and manufacturability analyses (DFM/DFA) and support prototype development, sample production and validation.
• Plan and optimise production layouts, material flow, cycle times and labour standards.
• Drive implementation of new technologies in partnership with innovation management.
• Report directly to the Operations Director and act as backup for the Engineering Supervisor.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience managing engineering and cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong expertise in industrial engineering principles such as Lean manufacturing, OEE and continuous improvement.
• Solid project‑management skills including planning, budgeting and risk mitigation.
• In‑depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling and production systems (EMS experience is a plus).
• Experience with feasibility studies, process validation and production ramp‑up/NPI.
• Analytical, data‑driven mindset with excellent problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
