Senior Software Engineer - Backend

About the role

Databricks is building the world’s best data and AI infrastructure platform. As a Senior Software Engineer on the backend, you will be a founding member of the Belgrade site and help shape the multi‑year journey toward the Lakehouse vision. You will work across the full development cycle, delivering high‑performance services that power our customers’ data workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement distributed, at‑scale service architectures, monitoring, workflow orchestration, and developer experience improvements.
• Build reliable, secure, high‑performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing massive data on cloud storage back‑ends such as AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, and Azure Blob Storage.
• Develop product features that enable customers to easily store, retrieve, and manage their data.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of production‑level experience with Java, Scala, C++ or a similar language.
• Proven experience developing large‑scale distributed systems.
• Background working on SaaS platforms or Service‑Oriented Architectures.
• Solid knowledge of SQL.
