Senior Software Engineer - DB2 Databases

About the role

Fivetran is building data pipelines for the modern data stack and seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join its Database Group. The role focuses on designing and implementing core capabilities for capturing data from relational databases, supporting large enterprise customers.

Key responsibilities

• Write and test code.
• Create technical specifications.
• Review and approve technical design documents and pull requests.
• Mentor other team members and assist with their challenges.
• Own the product platform, improving code quality through testing and maintenance.
• Collaborate with a core team and broader stakeholders across the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Humility to gather diverse input and build consensus.
• Decisiveness when needed and a practical mindset to iterate on production systems.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C and C++.
• Experience with IBM DB2 (LUW, iSeries or z/OS) and SQL.
• Knowledge of DBMS call‑level interfaces such as ODBC or Oracle OCI.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure tools like AWS CloudFormation, Kubernetes and Docker.
