Staff Program Manager - Central Engineering Operations

About the role

Fivetran is looking for a Staff Program Manager for its Central Engineering Operations team. The role drives operational excellence and improves execution effectiveness across key Engineering and R&D areas, leading end-to-end major process and efficiency improvement projects and programs. It is a full-time position based in the Novi Sad office, with a hybrid model of about two days in the office per week.

Key responsibilities

• Streamline engineering and R&D processes so they are simple, value-oriented and scalable.
• Lead and manage process improvements, taking them from problem definition and data analysis through to documented, repeatable, measurable processes adopted by stakeholders.
• Partner with engineering group leaders to improve planning, execution and operational health, and support leadership in quarterly planning, OKR tracking and execution against strategic priorities.
• Guide a team of operations managers in managing engineering initiatives, solving problems and automating routine operations.
• Conduct audits and check-ins with senior engineers to refine processes and ensure adherence to operational standards.
• Improve workflows, support internal knowledge management and information structures, and coordinate engineering updates, events and R&D-wide initiatives.
• Champion global operational strategies that make engineering processes more efficient, scalable and aligned with the company's long-term vision.

Required profile

• 6+ years of technical/operations management experience in the technology or software development industry, with the ability to define automation requirements, automate workflows and analyse data with query languages and AI.
• Experience optimising operations at an engineering and R&D scale, creating actionable plans and managing execution across multiple teams and departments, including compliance requirements.
• Ability to lead R&D-wide initiatives and discuss topics such as system design, data architecture, infrastructure management and quality with engineering subject matter experts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with technical and non-technical audiences.

Required skills

• Project/program management, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Bonus: familiarity with Jira, Looker and Sigma; experience shipping large software projects with global teams; cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), ETL/ELT and the modern data stack.
