Staff Software Developer (Kotlin Libraries)

About the role

As a Staff Software Developer you will create and maintain foundational Kotlin libraries that are used by hundreds of thousands of developers. You will become an expert in specific domains of computer science, contribute to design committees, and help shape the Kotlin API.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain core Kotlin primitive libraries.
• Participate in design committees that define the Kotlin API.
• Develop standard Kotlin tools, specifications, and language features.
• Write detailed design documents for complex systems.
• Perform performance engineering and API design work.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the domain you work in, such as Unicode standards and time‑zone handling.
• Ability to reason about trade‑offs and make technical decisions.
• Interest in deep JVM internals and Java standard library implementation details.
