Vice President, Applied AI & Data Science

About the role

BlackRock’s Investment & Trading Compliance engineering team is looking for a Vice President to lead applied AI and data science initiatives. The role will define and deliver AI‑powered compliance capabilities across the Aladdin platform, turning regulatory and investment guidelines into intelligent, proactive workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Drive AI innovation by designing, developing and deploying advanced machine‑learning solutions for compliance and regulatory challenges.
• Shape the long‑term AI strategy and roadmap for the Investment & Trading Compliance function.
• Build intelligent systems using large language models, agentic frameworks, retrieval‑augmented generation and knowledge graphs.
• Partner with product managers, engineers, compliance specialists and AI researchers to deliver scalable, production‑grade AI services.
• Apply modern product engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle, including prototyping, testing, code review and documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in machine learning, generative AI and information retrieval applied to enterprise contexts.
• Proven track record of delivering production‑grade AI solutions at scale.
• Strong product engineering background with ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
• Deep understanding of compliance workflows, regulatory environments and knowledge‑driven systems.
