Principal Electrical Engineer

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join its Power Transmission and Distribution team in Belgrade. The role involves developing innovative solutions for high‑voltage grid systems, ensuring secure electricity supply, integrating renewable energy sources, and delivering large‑scale power infrastructure from concept through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop primary plant layout for high‑voltage (HV) substations.
• Prepare equipment specifications for HV plant and ancillary equipment.
• Provide engineering design input across project life‑cycle stages, from feasibility and front‑end engineering to detailed design, site construction monitoring, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with client project teams and internal Mott MacDonald disciplines, including civil and structural engineering.
• Support major utilities and large global demand customers in a rapidly evolving energy sector.

Required profile

• Qualified Electrical Engineer with solid experience in power transmission and distribution.
• Proven ability to work on complex, multi‑disciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Motivated, ambitious and able to operate both independently and within a collaborative team.
• Willingness to engage with major utilities and international stakeholders.

Required skills

• HV substation layout and design.
• HV equipment specification.
• Electrical power infrastructure engineering (feasibility, front‑end, detailed design).
