Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Arup is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for a variety of building types. You will work within multidisciplinary teams across Arup’s global network, delivering sustainable and innovative solutions for iconic projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial, residential, hotel, data‑centre and educational facilities.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers and other specialists to create integrated, sustainable building solutions.
• Oversee the selection of mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with performance, sustainability and regulatory criteria.
• Act as project coordinator and Arup’s representative with clients, managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technologies).
• 10+ years of experience in HVAC, plumbing and/or fire protection system design.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multicultural, international environments.
• Leadership experience and ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluent written and spoken English (C1 level).
