Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Civil and Structural team within the Energy business unit. The role will involve design work on power plants, high‑voltage substations, HVDC converter stations and HV cable projects, supporting the global energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Project management of structural design activities.
• Preparation of proposals and scheme costings.
• Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for power generation and transmission projects.
• Creation of drawings for planning applications and tender packages.
• Detailed civil and structural design of power plants, HV substations, HVDC converter stations and HV cable routes.
• Design coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
• Preparation of technical specifications.
• Condition and structural assessment of existing structures for reuse.

Required profile

• Advanced structural engineering knowledge, including load‑bearing capacity, material properties and design codes such as Eurocodes and ASCE.
• Proven experience in engineering design for power generation and high‑voltage transmission projects.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000 or ETABS.
• Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes.
